Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton has announced that junior Davon Dillard and freshman Zack Dawson are no longer members of the Cowboy basketball program.
“Being a part of Cowboy basketball has always and will always be an honor and a privilege,” Boynton said. “With that privilege comes great responsibilities and standards. Davon and Zack have failed to meet those standards and at this point it is necessary to move in a different direction. We wish both of them all the best as they continue their academic and athletic careers.”
Dillard played in four games this season averaging 4.3 points and 1.3 rebounds. He was an integral part of the team off the bench last year. Dawson, the highest-rated recruit in this year's class, had made five appearances averaging 4.4 points and 1.6 assists.
Oklahoma State is traveling to Sunrise, Florida, to take on No. 19/19 Florida State in the Orange Bowl Classic opener. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday on Fox Sports 2.
