An Okfuskee County woman is accused of stealing from people’s graves at Prague’s Municipal Cemetery.
Prague installed surveillance cameras there several months ago, after several complaints about gravesite thefts.
Prague Police Chief John Fluitt says 39-year-old Takisha Taber confessed to thefts last Friday, after police showed her surveillance of her stealing items last Tuesday morning.
Kelly Reno suspects Taber stole several items her daughters had left for their father Ronald, who died two years ago from a heart attack.
“It sickens me. She took what his daughters had put out there for him. And it’s disgusting that somebody would do that to our loved ones,” Reno said.
Prague Mayor Cliff Bryant says once Taber is convicted, the city of Prague plans to seize her pickup truck, then sell it, to purchase more surveillance cameras.
