The Oklahoma State football team plays its fourth game of the 2018 season Saturday, hosting Texas Tech at 6 p.m. in Boone Pickens Stadium. A look at some of the streaks and trends heading into the game:

Talking Points vs. Texas Tech– Offense
• Entering week four, Oklahoma State is one of just two teams in FBS - the other being No. 4 Ohio State - that ranks among the top 20 nationally in both passing offense and rushing offense. The balanced attack has led the Cowboys to a No. 6 national rank in total offense at 590.3 yards per game.

• Doak Walker candidate Justice Hill has continued to impress, averaging 8.15 yards per carry this season to lead the Big 12 and rank fourth nationally among Power Five players. The junior out of Tulsa also leads the league with 92.3 rushing yards per game, despite not playing much of the first two games of the season. He needs just 114 yards to become the ninth Cowboy in school history to hit the 3,000 yards rushing in his career.

• Senior quarterback Taylor Cornelius is in the starting role for the first time in his career and has led the Cowboys to a 3-0 start. He was an integral part of last week's win over No. 17 Boise State, passing for 243 yards a touchdown with no interceptions, and also added 41 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns. Through three games, he has 971 passing yards and seven passing touchdowns on 65-for-101 passing. He's among the top 10 nationally in passing yards and total offense, and ranks among the top 25 in passing touchdowns and yards per completion.

•  Sophomore Tylan Wallace is OSU's leading receiver. He paces the team and ranks No. 16 in FBS with 319 receiving yards and brings a modest streak of two 100-yard receiving games into this week's battle with Texas Tech. He had a career-best 166 yards against South Alabama and added 105 last week against Boise State, both of which were highs for any player in each game.

Talking Points vs. Texas Tech – Defense
• The Cowboys held No. 17 Boise State to 1.1 yards per carry on 34 rushes and managed 7.0 sacks as part of last week's convincing 44-21 win. Seven sacks in a game marks the second-highest total that any FBS team has managed in a game this season.

• The ability to win the battle up front has led the Cowboys to a No. 2 national rank at 5.33 sacks per game and a No. 4 national rank at 10.7 tackles for loss per game. The main contributor has been junior defensive end Jordan Brailford, who ranks third among all FBS players with an average of 1.33 sacks per game.

• The Cowboys rank No. 17 nationally in total defense, allowing just 296.0 yards per game. Contributing to OSU's total defense success is a No. 8 national rank in rushing defense at 74 yards allowed per game and a No. 5 national rank in red zone defense, allowing opponents to score on just three of six red zone chances this season.

• OSU linebackers have also thrived in OSU's new 4-2-5 scheme. Calvin Bundage has been OSU's most disruptive player so far, leading the team in tackles in all three games. His 26 total tackles lead the team on the season and his 8.7 tackles per game are No. 4 in the conference, despite the fact that he sat out much of the first two contests during comfortable wins. Fellow linebacker Justin Phillips is the vocal leader of the defense and has 16 tackles this season to rank third on the team.

• In Jim Knowles' first two games as defensive coordinator, the Cowboys have held their opponents to 22 three-and-outs in 44 possessions. In other impressive displays, 55 of the opponents' 88 offensive first-down plays have produced three yards or less and OSU opponents have gained zero yards or been driven backwards on 27 of their 56 third down plays.
