Police Search For Suspect Who Escaped Custody In Moore

Moore Police are looking for an escaped suspect.

Police said they arrested Walter Blount, who broke out of the cage in a patrol cruiser and took off near Northeast 12th Street and Eastern Avenue. Officers initially arrested Blount and two others at the Hayden's Landings Apartments, located at 921 E. 12th St. in Moore.

Authorities said the suspects were detained after officers found a lot of stolen property on them. Police also found a gun but couldn’t confirm if it was on Blount or one of the others.

Our News 9 crew also observed a pursuit taking place in Moore around 6:30 a.m. Police told News 9 someone tried to break into several vehicles in the area. The truck involved in the pursuit was stolen.

The pursuit ended up being called off due to weather.

They added Blount was searched and shouldn’t be armed, but is considered dangerous.
