Amber Officer Recovering After Shot By Suspect At Del City Walmart

An Amber police officer seriously injured in a police shooting late Saturday night, was hit two times but is expected to recover.

Mark Asche was working off-duty security at the Del City Walmart, when a Del City police officer attempted to arrest shoplifting suspect Gabriel Carter. Carter resisted and fired off shots at the officers.

Both officers were hit.

Officer Asche was struck in the stomach and the arm.

Despite being shot in the leg, the Del City officer shot and killed Carter.

“The suspect does have a lengthy criminal history. You can find out plenty if you google on the internet, several things come up,” said Del City Police Spokesman Capt. Bradley Rule.
