President Trump and Republicans celebrated, certain that Special Investigator Robert Mueller's languid testimony before the House Judiciary Committee signaled the death throes of any impeachment movement.
But they were wrong.
Although Mueller stood by his team's report that they could find no evidence of campaign collusion with the Russians, House Democrats are saying louder than ever that the president tried to obstruct the investigation.
Committee Chairman Nadler is full speed ahead with impeachment intentions.
Nevermind that, according to a Politico Poll, only 37 percent of Americans support impeachment proceedings.
While that's going on, the Republicans are fully focused on why these investigations started to begin with. They're anxiously awaiting the inspector general's report on the FBI and Justice Department's dealings with a former British spy and a dossier that made trashy claims about candidate Trump's behavior in a Russian hotel room.
They're also convinced it was all cooked up by Hillary Clinton's campaign and given to her supporters deep in the government who used it to get permission to spy on the Trump campaign.
How do you untangle this mess? I'm at a loss, but I welcome your ideas on my Facebook page.
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
