The first person to have COVID-19 in Oklahoma has recovered from the virus. The Tulsa Health Department announced his recovery on Thursday afternoon.

Doctors have said that there is no formula to recovering from the virus though. They have said each patient is treated on a case by case basis.

“For right now, it is called supportive care,” said Dr. Douglas Drevets, the Chief of Infectious Diseases at OU Medical. “Which is staying hydrated, making sure your blood pressure and if you have diabetes that your blood sugar is under control.”

But when someone does recover from the coronavirus doctors have said it is not clear if you can get it again or not.

“Our hope, and I think it is a realistic one, is when you see the virus start to go down that you do have a protective immune response and won’t get it again,” said Dr. Drevets. “But that is just not known yet.”
