Best Ever Cheese Grits

  • 2 cups chicken bone broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1/4 strip bacon
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 cup old-fashioned grits
  • 1 1/2 sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the chicken broth, water and piece of bacon to a boil.
  2. Add the garlic and slowly stir in the grits.
  3. Reduce the heat to moderately low and cook, stirring frequently, until the grits are tender, 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the cheese, butter and cream.
  5. Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately.
