Changes OSU Fans Need To Know For Game Day
STILLWATER - College football officially kicks off in Stillwater, Thursday.
There have been many changes at T. Boone Pickens Stadium this year. One of the big ones, fans will be able come to the stadium and purchase beer.
The change will be run by Oklahoma State's concessions partner. It comes after a successful pilot program during the spring.
Here's what you need to know.
Fans will only be able to buy two beers at a time and sales will end at the beginning of the fourth quarter. But, this isn't the only change. There's a new tailgate start time.
The university's new tailgating policy starts at 8 a.m.regardless of kickoff time.
News 9 spoke with the ABLE commission ahead of the first game. Staff want people to be careful and know their limit.
"We want people to know that if they're drinking underage, if they're driving drunk, if they're getting intoxicated and getting out on the street and causing problems for themselves or someone else, enforcement is going to be taken. That also includes house parties around Stillwater," said ABLE Commission Captain Erik Smoot.
People should also prepare for some road closures around the stadium. The good news, you don't have to fight game day traffic.
You can park downtown for free in the 500-plus free parking spots Thursday afternoon. Then three hours before the game a shuttle service starts. It picks up at 7th and Lewis and runs every 15 minutes before and after the game.
