Preparing for a flight with the Thunderbirds
Usually, I blog about my stories, highlighting wonderful Oklahomans who are making a difference in our community, or even around the world! But today ... I want to write about something a bit different.
I'm flying with the United States Air Force Thunderbirds this afternoon! Colleagues of mine in the News 9 newsroom are busy teasing me about passing out and losing my lunch! And I have to admit, it's making me a bit nervous! But then I think, what am I really nervous about? So what, I may pass out! And you know what, who cares if I lose my lunch ... it happens, right? I know that may be a little gross, but there's really nothing I can do about it beyond the techniques they're going to teach me that will hopefully keep that from happening.
A number of other News 9 reporters here have flown in an Air Force jet. And although some of them have gotten sick in the air, they all say, it was an experience they'll never forget. And they're so glad they volunteered to take the flight! So, I'm pumping myself up! I'm going to fly! And, it's going to be awesome!
Because really, I know once I get in the cockpit and take off, after a minute or two, my nerves will be gone and I'll be having the time of my life! Bring on the G's!
And stay tuned, I'll update you on my flight experience with a news story and a blog that you can catch right here on www.news9.com.
