Visitors to the Tulsa County Courthouse will notice major changes starting Monday, June 9, as construction prompts new entry options and floor closures.
The previously closed entrance on Sixth Street will reopen at 1 p.m. on June 9. It will be available for both entry and exit during normal business hours.
Officials say this option may be more convenient for visitors parking in the south lots, but it is not handicap accessible.
The entrances on Denver Avenue and the Plaza will continue to operate as usual for both entry and exit. Visitors are encouraged to follow posted signage and allow extra time to move through security during the transition.
Construction access will require the closure of the courthouse’s fifth floor from June 9 through June 20. Court officials are directing visitors to check the District Court’s website at TulsaCountyDistrictCourt.org for the latest docket information and courtroom locations.
The renovations are part of a $28 million project funded by federal ARPA dollars. The upgrades include fire suppression, plumbing and HVAC improvements, window replacements, and repairs to the building’s marble façade.
A conditions assessment conducted in 2022 found that the seventy-year-old courthouse required significant repairs to remain functional and safe.
The project is expected to be completed by late 2026. Once renovations are finished, some courtrooms will be relocated to the Faulkner building at 303 W 1st St.
