Green Country sees road closures and drainage issues due to heavy floods

Torrential rain and heavy storms across Green Country have caused damage and closures. Make sure and follow along as we bring the latest from first responders as they work to clear things up and manage the situation in real-time.

Latest ODOT/OTA Update:

Weather Related Highway Closures 5-25-25 as of 8 p.m.

The following highways, interstates or turnpikes are impacted by high water or storm cleanup:

BRYAN/MARSHALL COUNTY: 

1. All lanes of the US-70/Roosevelt Bridge and causeway are currently open between State Park Rd. and Williow Springs Rd., over Lake Texoma between Kingston and Mead following flooding damage to the causeway; the bridge is safe. However, driving lane widths are narrow and the speed limit is reduced to 35 mph. Drivers should slow down, set aside distractions and be alert.

CHEROKEE COUNTY: 

1. SH-80 is closed west of Hulbert due to flooding
2. SH-80 is closed south of the Fort Gibson Dam due to a rock slide

LOVE COUNTY: 

1. US-77S is closed at the Lake Murray Spillway due to flooding

PITTSBURG COUNTY: 

1. SH-31 is OPEN near Haywood following earlier flooding

TULSA COUNTY:

1. SH-11 is closed between 76th St. and 86th St. due to flooding
2. Westbound SH-20 is closed between SH-11 and Peoria Ave. due to flooding. 

REMEMBER during flooding conditions, motorists are reminded:

1. Don't drive around barricades if roadway is closed.
2. If you see high water, turn around and do NOT enter.

Owasso

On-duty crews were requested to assist the Public Works department with a drainage culvert in Elm Creek Park that became clogged due to heavy rains, causing flooding to nearby homes.

The structure was under several feet of water, presenting an extremely dangerous situation to our public works workers.

Swiftwater rescue technicians from St 4 responded and assisted in removing the grate to allow water to drain and prevent further damage. As a reminder, stay away from all flooded areas, as you do not know what hazards lie below the water line.

Crews reported excessive down pressure once the clog was released, which could have presented an additional hazard to untrained personnel.

Skiatook Police Department

Road Closure Alert 

Due to recent heavy storms in the area, Country Meadow Lane in Skiatook, OK has been washed out and is currently impassable. The Street Department is working hard to repair the roadway currently.

Please avoid the area and use alternate routes for your safety.

Emergency services and local authorities have been notified and are working to repair the damage.

Barriers and signage have been put in place—do not attempt to drive through floodwaters or bypass closures.
