The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is just around the corner at the end of April, and there’s an event for everyone! Even if you’re not running, you can still participate by cheering on the runners.

Race analyst and trainer Mark Bravo stopped by News 9 to talk about the power of cheering. He explains that showing support can give runners the motivation they need to keep going.

"It gives you a monumental lift when maybe you're dragging," Bravo said.

He also pointed out that the support during race weekend embodies the "Oklahoma standard." "Sunday produces the largest crowd, citywide, of any sporting event in Oklahoma," he said.

Whether runners are tackling the 5K or the full marathon, the crowd’s energy can make all the difference.

Applications to host a dedicated cheer zone close on March 14.
