Training for a marathon is a test of endurance, grit and determination. For Classyn Stiverson, it’s also about proving to herself that she’s ready to take on the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, no matter what conditions she may encounter on race day.
“I just had to put everything to the test and do what I know I can do,” Stiverson said during a recent training session.
Stiverson logged serious mileage Monday morning, confident that if she could power through the wintry conditions, she could conquer the marathon.
“I know if I can run in this, I know I can run a marathon,” she said.
By the time News 9 caught up with her, Stiverson had run six miles and was preparing to add two more before calling it a day.
After the intense workout, Stiverson had a recovery plan.
“I’m going to cover up with some hot chocolate for a few hours and try to get my body temperature back up,” Stiverson said.
With dedication like this, Stiverson is well on her way to conquering the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon with confidence in her ability to succeed, no matter the conditions on race day.
