Food delivery service DoorDash announced the company will begin deliveries of hemp-derived CBD products to select states, including Oklahoma.
What is allowed in Oklahoma?
DoorDash says only adults are allowed to purchase the products, which include food items such as drinks, gummies, snacks, and chocolates.
The eligible food items are legally required to contain no more than 3% of tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC, the principal psychoactive chemical found in cannabis.
The State of Oklahoma's ABLE Commission, which deals with the enforcement of laws regarding alcoholic beverages, says its mission is to keep Oklahomans safe when it comes to another mind-altering substance.
What concerns do state leaders have?
Additionally, the ABLE Commission said its main focus is to keep cannabis products out of the hands of Oklahoma's children.
"We really want the public to know and be aware of what they're consuming," ABLE Commission Deputy Director Lori Carter said. "If it has mind-altering properties, then we would certainly want parents to be concerned, as well as local law enforcement."
DoorDash says the company has put in place several safeguards to verify both the customer and delivery driver's ages.
