Oklahoma City Police are investigating a shooting at a pool party in southeast Oklahoma City on Father's Day. One person was shot, and police said no one was arrested.

A pool party at an apartment complex near Interstate 240 and Sunnylane Road turned violent late Sunday night. Officers found one victim in another area of the complex.

“He was hit once, it was a non-life-threatening gunshot wound,” said Msgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department.

Police said the victim and witnesses were reluctant to give details about the shooting. Eventually, police learned several suspects approached a group in the pool area and were talking about guns and gangs.

“An argument was taking place with the victim and the suspects, they were yelling back and forth at each other,” said Knight. “One of the suspects pulled a gun, and fired numerous shots at the victim.”

Witnesses reported hearing 10 gunshots. Panicked pool guests and the suspects fled the scene.

Less than a mile from the shooting scene at the pool, police were called to another shooting near Interstate 240 and Bryant Avenue the same day. The victim told officers the car he was riding in was shot at by another car, and he was grazed by a bullet.

The victim got out of the car and ran along the highway until he found a wrecked car on Interstate 240, police said. The driver of the wrecked car called the police. Officers said the victim of the shooting refused to cooperate.

“That makes our job more difficult trying to figure out who committed this crime so we can get them off the streets,” said Knight.

Police are not saying if the shooting at the pool party and the victim shot in the car were connected. Citizens can report tips about either shooting by calling the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (405) 235-7300.
