The Caddo County Sheriff's Office says the three inmates who escaped last week went through the plumbing system and were able to get out through an unlocked door.

Investigators, including the OSBI, are trying to pinpoint the exact timeline of the escape. The sheriff's office said several cameras, including one with the best angle of the escape, were down due to recent storms.

An affidavit says that on Friday, around 10 a.m., a detention officer found a sink pulled from the wall.

"They were able to pull that from the wall and get into the plumbing chase where plumbers get in to work, and they went down and found a door to get out," said Thomas Adkins with the Caddo County Sheriff's Office.

Adkins says the inmates then made it into an unsecured area with an unlocked door. Officers say barrel locks and padlocks are now outside the jail.

"The jail sits up a little higher than the actual chases you see through the entire building, so when they got through the plumping, they got into one of their rooms and went through a door," said Adkins.

The three men, Hector Hernandez, Michael Brown, and Davantae Winters, are all accused of violent crimes, including Winters' charge of first-degree murder.

Investigators say once outside the jail, the men tossed their detention uniforms and made it more than 50 miles away to Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City just before midnight.

"We don't know why all three of them ended up there, and we think they were just trying to wait it out," said Adkins.

Investigators spoke with family members to help track them down.

The sheriff's office is looking at whether changes need to be made.

"The sheriff is looking at budget issues and ways to fix some of these issues that we have and make sure this doesn't happen again," said Adkins.

The District Attorney has filed new felony charges against all three inmates.

All three prisoners are back in Anadarko after being held in the Cleveland County jail over the weekend.

This isn't the first time inmates have escaped the Caddo County jail, built in 2011.

Four inmates who were eventually caught broke out through a trap door above a shower in 2013.
