Oklahoma is officially bear country, at least parts of it!

ODOT has installed several bear crossing signs along I-40 in Sequoyah County.

The signs can be found on each side of the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge near Vian.

The department of transportation said the signs went up last month after a couple of incidents of cars hitting bears in the area.

Black bears are native to Oklahoma and the population has been growing in Oklahoma for the past 25 years or so.
