Local Christmas Tree Farm Proceeds Go To Children In Need

Out of all the Christmas tree farms in Oklahoma, the one near Christian Chapel is unique because these trees have the power to change a life.

The farm is a part of the group Buy a Tree, Change a Life, a national organization that partners with churches across the country to help children in need.

Sara Morton and her husband Shaun are in charge.

“We always like to give it a good trim so it’s ready for a new family,” Shaun said.

They help customers pick out the tree, trim it and help send it off to its new home.

Sara says every tree bought helps.

“All the proceeds actually stay at whatever organization the church chooses, a global and a local project so we met those founders and felt like it would be a good fit for what we’re doing,” she said.

The Morton's were already running an organization called Serving Paraguay to help kids in need there. And on the local side money raised goes to Tulsa children in foster care.

“This is our life-changing tree, and all the white tags on this tree are families who have chosen to donate above the tree cost to help children in need. And then our top life changer of the day will get their name on the board, the person that's given the most above the amount of the tree,” Sara said. 

The trees were delivered fresh from North Carolina, and every purchase calls for a celebration. 

"It's really amazing if you can sit around a tree and enjoy it and also know that your tree has changed the life of a child in need,” Sara said. 

The farm will be up while supplies last.
