Bodycam footage captured deputies accusing a former Payne County teacher of being drunk in court, months after she was arrested for being drunk inside her classroom.
When Kimberly Coates appeared in court this month on charges stemming from her August arrest, her demeanor quickly caught the attention of deputies.
Deputy: Did you drink something while you were here at school?
Deputy: Have you had something to drink today? Yes or no?
While appearing in court on a public intoxication charge--deputies realized Kimberly Coates was under the influence of alcohol again:
Deputy: Have you had anything to drink today? Yes or no?
Coates: I had a glass of wine this morning.
Deputy: This morning?
According to the court filing, Coates was unsteady and weaving, her speech was slurred, and her eyes were glazed...
Deputies explained to Coates why she would not be going home.
Coates: I can go home with my husband. he's going to take me home.
Deputy: No, you're going to come with me, ma'am. You're under arrest for public intoxication.
Coates: I don't understand.
Deputy: You're in public, you're intoxicated.
Deputy: You're going to jail is what he's telling you.
Coates' husband is heard warning her--that cameras are rolling.
Coates' husband: Stop talking. You're being recorded again.
Then just like the time before,
Coates was handcuffed and sent to jail.
Coates was arrested on a second public intoxication complaint, a misdemeanor crime.
