Oklahoma City leaders announce four big projects, including a pedestrian bridge, are in the works along the Oklahoma River.

As part of the latest MAPS 4 plan, wand with a price tag of more than $9 million, the city said they are bringing the bridge, a dam, a community gathering place and an amphitheater to the area.

This will allow interaction between Bricktown and the OKANA development on foot by crossing the river at that point," MAPS program manager David Todd said.

Todd also said says the pedestrian bridge will overlook the river and provides a unique view and connection to nearby trails.

City leaders said the low-water dam will be an extension to the project, in order supply more water into the river, and the community gathering place near the bridge will space for residents to host events near the trail system.

The fourth addition, an amphitheater on the river will also allow for additional entertainment opportunities.

Visitors also have the opportunity to use the bridge to connect to the new OKANA development currently under construction.
