Choctaw Police Chief Kelly Marshall said her department has been getting a lot of community tips regarding the shooting that happened at Bill Jensen Field. But the search remains ongoing for the gunman who shot and killed 16-year-old Cordae Carter.

Marshall said she did not have further updates as of Tuesday morning.

Choctaw Police said during the third quarter of the Friday night game between Choctaw High School and Del City High School, someone fired shots on the visitor's side of the field. Police said an argument between at least two males led to the shooting, which killed Carter.

“I think it was an isolated incident,” said Marshall. “I don’t think there’s an ongoing threat. This wasn’t one person that wanted to come in and shoot up multiple people within our football field.”

Police said two other people were also shot, including a 15-year-old girl who was hit in the thigh. Investigators have not said who shot her.

In addition, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office said a Del City officer who was working off-duty security for the Mid-Del School District shot a 42-year-old man in the chest. He was in critical condition at last check.

Carter's family said the 42-year-old man was trying to help break up the fight. But investigators have not confirmed that information.

Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson said the Del City officer opened fire because he perceived a threat. But the sheriff did not elaborate, saying that “we are still very early on in the investigation.”

A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said on Tuesday, investigators identified a man who was at the game and were talking with him. But he said the Sheriff’s Office had no further updates.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with photos or videos of Friday’s incident, especially those that show the officer-involved shooting, to call investigators at 405-713-1017. Photos and videos can be uploaded at this link.

The Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said he was working to send News 9 recordings of 911 calls and body camera footage. Meanwhile, News 9 filed an open records request for the Choctaw Police Department’s incident report.

In addition to the three people shot, police said two girls suffered broken wrists and a broken leg while trying to get away.
