Brownfield was reported missing on Tuesday. Law enforcement agencies and residents flocked to the small town searching for the little girl last seen in a pink butterfly sweater and pink pants.
This is a case that has garnered national attention, as her two caretakers were arrested earlier this week.
“This has been probably one of the craziest instances we have had here in a while. It certainly brought a lot of chaos to the community,” Raney said.
Brownfield's older sister was found wandering near their home off West Nebraska Street in Cyril.
Both of their caretakers are behind bars, Alysia Adams was arrested on two complaints of child neglect.
Adams’ husband, Ivon Adams, was arrested in Arizona on an outstanding felony warrant for murder in the first degree out of Oklahoma and child neglect.
“Trash service in town was suspended and that was in effort to search for additional clues as to Athena’s whereabouts. I want everyone to understand we are still looking for her,” Arbeitman said.
Ivon was arraigned Friday and is awaiting extradition to Oklahoma. A court filing said evidence was found on a cell phone in his possession.
In the meantime, agents have conducted a search at Adams' former residence in Rush Springs, Okla.
Bob Mills SkyNews 9 was over the scene as investigators used drones as they continued looking for Athena.
According to the court filing in Arizona, Ivon is a former marine. No word yet on when he will be brought back to Cyril.
