Cold temperatures continue as the weekend approaches, some areas of the state are even waking up to single digit temperatures.

Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:

A surface ridge located across Iowa and northern Missouri extends southeast into far northeastern OK this morning with mostly clear sky, light wind, and very cold weather. Some of the coldest temps of the winter season will be likely for the pre-dawn hours with many locations in the single digits. The Tulsa metro will start near nine to 11 degrees before moving above freezing Friday afternoon with sunshine and a light south breeze. We should finally reach above freezing after the noon hour with readings in the mid-30s. The dry air will allow a rapid drop in temps Friday night and we’ll be in the mid-20s by early evening and back into the teens and lower 20s for Saturday morning lows. After Friday, a mini-warm-up begins before our next storm system nears the area by early next week.

Temps & Rain Chances

Daytime highs Saturday should reach the mid to upper 40s and Sunday near 60 before a southern stream system clips southeastern OK Monday night. The data has not been consistent in the placement of this system, but enough run to run consistency suggests a chance for showers or even some thunder for late Monday evening across far southeastern OK as the low ejects across Texas. Another strong surface front should move across the state directly behind this exiting system with colder weather returning Tuesday and Wednesday. The overlap period of late Monday night into Tuesday morning supports a very low mention for a quick turnover to light wintry precip as the Texas system exits to the east and colder weather arrives. A weak disturbance is expected to move west to east across the plains during this period offering a low chance for some flurries at times, but nothing significant. We should see another modest warm-up by the end of next week.

Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
