One in three Americans said violence against the government can sometimes be justified, according to the Washington Post and the University of Maryland poll.
This poll showed just how deep the partisan wedge between republicans and democrats is.
Come Thursday, it will be a year from the deadly attack on the US capitol, something done by Americans against our own government.
"There were Oklahomans there carrying Oklahoma flags, I mean of all people. They should know what domestic terrorism causes the pain it causes in the community," said Kari Watkins, the Executive Director of the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum.
She said the chaos in Washington reminded her of April 1995, when the Murrah Federal Building was attacked.
The survey also asked about the differences in how people describe the capitol breach and how much responsibility is to put on Trump.
"It was an attack on the government just how it was. So, I think we've come far in some ways and not far enough clearly," said Watkins.
This poll reports the highest number of people who agree with violence dating back to more than two decades.
One of the chairmen here at the OKC Memorial and Museum, Bob Ross, said that the mission here is as important now as ever, saying violence is never the answer.
