An Oklahoma City family is heartbroken on Monday after losing their loved one in a weekend shooting. Investigators are looking for clues that will lead them to 20-year-old Bureisha Williams’ killer.

One witness told police he saw a car drive away from the shooting scene near NW 36th and Ann Arbor Avenue and was able to get a make and model.

Police said they will follow every lead to bring the victim's family some answers and justice.

“There’s just a lot of different emotions going on around the apartment complex, right now,” a bystander said. “Because we don’t know what the motive was behind, the reason to take somebody’s life.”

Residents at the Taylor Ridge Apartments and in a nearby neighborhood heard the gunshots early Sunday morning.

“We heard a gunshot,” said the bystander. “And after that, it gets quiet for a second, and I hear four or five more.”

The bystander said he realized the shooting was a fatality when he saw Williams' body, motionless on a staircase at the complex and her family crying for help.

According to a relative's Facebook post, Williams was shot in front of her younger brother.

“All we heard was a lady screaming, ‘Don’t die on me, don’t die on me,'” said the bystander.

When officers arrived to the scene, they started first aid on the victim.

“Our victim had been struck once by gunfire,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department. “(An) officer attempted to place chest seals on our victim.”

Williams died at the hospital, and police said this was possibly a drive-by shooting. They are investigating if Williams was an innocent bystander or the intended target.

“Right now, there are no suspects in custody,” said Quirk. “No arrests have been made. Anybody with information we want to hear from them through the homicide tip line.”

The homicide tip line is 405-297-1200.
