A man previously charged in connection to the riots in downtown Oklahoma City in 2020 is in trouble again.

According to police, a woman jumped from a moving vehicle earlier this month in order to escape her alleged abuser.

According to the victim, her boyfriend Isael Ortiz, beat her until unconsciousness. It happened near NE 30th and Coltrane.

Prosecutors said video from last year shows Ortiz setting fire to a metro business and a van that belonged to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office.

Still awaiting trial in connection to the violence that erupted downtown last year, Ortiz was arrested again, this time in Austin, Texas.

He was booked on several complaints including domestic abuse stemming from an incident in Oklahoma City.

“She told officers the suspect struck her several times in the face and the back of the head while they were in the vehicle,” said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Dillon Quirk.

According to documents, earlier this month Ortiz was driving down a rural road with his girlfriend and her children when he brutally assaulted her.

“She lost consciousness. At some point she regained consciousness,” said Quirk.

Police said she jumped out of the moving vehicle leaving her children in the car.

“There was a witness in the neighborhood where the vehicle stopped, they called 911 to help the victim out,” said Quirk.

Witnesses said the woman appeared to have a broken arm.

“She did have injuries on her knees indicating she could have been hit by the vehicle or fallen when he fled in the vehicle,” said Quirk.

A court filing showed the two argued—after Ortiz accused his girlfriend "of planning to leave him when he's in prison."

Court documents also showed Ortiz reportedly threatened to harm or kill his girlfriend's family.

A judge has set his bond at one million dollars.

He's also set to go to trial in December for rioting and a drive-by shooting.
