City leaders in Muskogee said a new road improvement project will bring a smoother ride and longer-lasting roads to residents.

It's the second phase of a $24 million, multi-year capital improvement project approved by voters in 2019.

This second phase of the project will focus on the northeast part of town, which includes Gibson Street by Civitan Park as well as other streets nearby.

City leaders said crews will be micro-surfacing streets which they say will help fix and prevent issues on roads. They say the micro-surfacing product sets in less than an hour, requires no rolling and allows traffic to return to normal quickly.

Contractors are asking residents to not park along the streets scheduled to be worked on so that work can go faster.

For more information about which streets will be worked on, check out the city's website here.

Osage SkyNews 6 Pilot Dustin Stone is flying out there today to get a look at the progress.
