Man Dies While Being Detained At Oklahoma County Detention Center

The Oklahoma County Detention Center is reporting that a man has died while being detained.

According to a press release, the unidentified 35-year-old man was found unresponsive inside his cell on Sunday. Detention center staff tried to use life-saving measures but the man was pronounced dead when EMS arrived. An internal investigation is underway and the medical examiner is working to determine a cause of death.

The Detention Center is not releasing the name of the man at this time but says he was incarcerated awaiting felony jury trial scheduled for January 11, 2021 on two separate felony counts of endangering others while eluding a police officer and felon in possession of a firearm.
