A Tulsa minister continues a remarkable recovery from COVID-19 as after more than a month in the hospital, he’s home with his family Tuesday night.

The Saint Francis Hospital system topped 190 patients with COVID-19 on Monday and the numbers are expected to increase. On Tuesday, however, that number went down by one.

A Tulsa minister went home from the hospital Tuesday, after 48 days of treatment for Covid-19. Pastor Mitch Wilburn walked out of Saint Francis Hospital, weak, and slow, but grateful.

Wilburn said he remembered walking into the hospital, but soon after, he was unconscious, on a ventilator for weeks. His heart briefly stopping once, but he was resuscitated.

He credits critical care from the staff, and intensive prayer from people all over the world who heard about his situation.

"I know that without a doubt, the prayers that invoke his power, and him working through nurses and doctors and techs and this entire staff of caring people" said Wilburn. "I can appreciate someone doing what they're doing, but to do it with grace, and kindness and levity and laughter at times, it blew me away."

Wilburn recognizes his recovery is a very different experience from many people, while many people are suffering from the loss of loved ones. "It's something I want to be mindful of" he said.

Wilburn left the hospital the day after Saint Francis reported reaching 190 COVID-19 patients in their system.
