Chaos erupted inside an Oklahoma County courtroom where a defendant flung a chair into a window.
Cimitri Conley was already serving time in connection with a 2018 drive-by shooting.
He returned to court on Monday for crimes he is accused of committing while in the Oklahoma County jail.
“He is serving time at a Department of Corrections prison but was brought back to Oklahoma County to wrap up some Oklahoma County charges,” said Mark Myers, with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office.
Conley has an extensive criminal record.
“For an individual that has a long list of crimes, that's already been convicted, that's here on another case, is just adding to his troubles,” said Myers.
According to court documents, Conley assaulted a fellow inmate in 2018, leaving the victim "covered in blood."
Myers said Conley was in court Monday afternoon ready to argue his case on own his behalf when things took a sudden turn.
“He was representing himself in court and serving as his own attorney. He got upset said something to the judge picked up a chair and threw it into a window inside the courtroom,” said Myers.
With deputies on hand, no one was hurt and the damage to the courtroom was minimized.
“The chair did not go through the window, but glass did break and it went to the south side of the courthouse,” said Myers.
The judge did file an additional charge of contempt of court.
