Neighbors were rattled after gunfire erupted. It happened overnight at an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City.
Police said they responded to a shots fired call at the Raindance Apartments near Northwest 122nd Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue. When officers arrived, they found one victim dead at the scene.
“It was like six gunshots and my heart stopped,” resident Tiffany Middleton said. “It freaked me out.”
Those who live in the complex said after the shots rang out, they heard a commotion outside.
“Everybody just started running all the way down. They were saying, ‘He got shot. He got shot,’ Middleton said. “It was just so scary.”
Police said while they were on scene, more shots were heard but no other victim was found. Investigators said they're still looking into the incident and have no suspect description at this time.
“There's families around here,” resident Ben Johnson said. “There's little kids that walk and run around.”
Johnson has lived at the complex for a short time.
“I've been living here for six months and there's been two shootings,” Johnson said. “It's still sad because it could have been prevented.”
Another resident said a stray bullet ricocheted off his front door.
“I was laying in my bed, heard gunfire, rolled out of my bed onto the ground,” said one resident who wished not to be identified. “Then there was a second round of gunfire, a lot of screaming.”
Police expect to release more details in the coming days. If you have any information, you're asked to call Oklahoma City police.
