OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State health officials are planning a drill for next month to test their preparedness in case of a bioterrorism attack.

About 1,400 state and local medical personnel and numerous volunteers will stage the release of the pneumonic plague in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Lawton on July 12th, 13th and 14th.

State health Commissioner Doctor Mike Crutcher says the drill is an effort to test emergency response systems in case of a public health catastrophe. He says the goal is to demonstrate the Health Department's ability to request, receive and distribute emergency medical supplies in case of such a catastrophe.
