(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Development of rural sections of eastern Oklahoma is disturbing the normal habitat of coyotes and the animals are moving into populated areas.

A wildlife specialist with the U-S Agriculture Department in Oklahoma City says coyotes are not only moving into populated areas, they're also starting to raise their families there.

Phillip Robinson says coyote complaints are coming from Tulsa, Edmond and even deep inside Oklahoma City.

Robinson says coyotes are adapt to new surroundings easily and survive by eating trash and even small pets. He says the animal can also carry diseases such as mange and rabies.
