Tulsa Students Celebrate Chinese New Year

TULSA, OK -- Some Tulsa students are celebrating the Chinese Year of the Tiger.

Kids at Hoover Elementary, 2327 S. Darlington Avenue, dressed up and paraded around their school today. Hoover Elementary actually has a sister school in China. And, it has a teacher from China who is helping students learn the language.

"We want our students to have the most knowledge that we possibly can about our globe and about the world around them," said fourth grade teacher David Karleskint. "We want them to have new experiences and new opportunities."

While China still celebrates the lunar new year, it adopted the western calendar around 1900.
