OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma -- As many families begin to prepare their Thanksgiving meals, they have noticed the recent increase in food prices.
"We're all chipping in this year, splitting the bill," shopper Meridith Phillips said.
With the economy weighing heavily on their minds, shoppers like Phillips are doing what they can to save some money.
"We have had some increases and customers will see it, but we can't do anything about that," Deal Brooks of Crest said.
According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the average cost of a basic Thanksgiving dinner for 10 this year will go up from $42.26 to $44.61, for an increase of 5.6 percent.
Besides turkey, consumers may also notice an increase in the cost of cranberries and sweet potatoes.
