OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- Crews battled a large fire at a flooring store, located at Northwest 4th and 5th Street on Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City early Sunday morning.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department was called out around 12:30 a.m. to a fully-involved fire at the Southland Flooring Store. The fire was called in by someone passing by that saw the smoke and flames.

Fire crews arrived to the scene and made entry into the warehouse side of the building. Upon entering the building they pulled out and went into defensive mode.  The fire quickly spread through the warehouse causing the roof to collapse.

"It's gonna be a long extended operation," says Marc Woodard, Deputy Fire Chief at the OCFD. "There is just so much fire involvement in this building. This building was built in 1956, has 25000 square feet. It is a flooring warehouse and showroom floor."

A Community Liaison Officer was transported from the scene, he was there on special duty. It is not clear if he was being treated for fire related issues.

The fire department worked to keep the blaze from spreading to the show room side of building. The warehouse was severely damaged.

Currently, firefighters are staying on the scene watching for hot spots.

Hazmat was on scene to monitor water and air quality due to the materials in the warehouse.  OKC Storm Water Quality Control was called out due to the amount of water being poured on the fire.

The warehouse did not have a fire sprinkler system. Fire officials call the store a total loss after the fire.

The cause of this fire is under investigation. News 9 and News9.com will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
