The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will soon begin installing machines that take full-body scans of passengers at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City.

Two of the Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) machines will be installed at security checkpoints on Monday, February 27. One will be at the east checkpoint near the Delta Airlines ticket counter, while the other will stand at the west checkpoint near the American Airlines ticket counter.

The machines are expected to be fully operational by Wednesday, March 7.

Airport spokesperson Karen Carney said the AIT machines will only show generic outlines of passengers, and will not display specific images of a person's body. The technology is designed to detect potentially dangerous items a passenger may be carrying, such as weapons and explosives.

If there is nothing suspicious, the screen will read, "OK."

Carney said AIT screening is optional, and passengers can choose an alternative screening that will include a physical pat-down.
