Former Oklahoma State star and Heisman Trophy winner Barry Sanders will be featured on the newest cover of NCAA Football 13.
On new cover, released Monday, Sanders is pictured along with former Baylor quarterback, and the most recent Heisman Trophy winner, Robert Griffin III.
"I owe it to my fans…still humbled to see so many that remember the 1988 OSU Athletics season so fondly," said Sanders via his personal Twitter account after the new cover was released.
The former OSU running back beat out seven other Heisman Trophy winners selected as finalists for the cover of the video game that will be released on July 10. The winner was chosen by fan votes on the NCAA Football's Facebook page.
Some of Sanders competition included former USC running back Marcus Allen, former Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie, former Ohio State running back Eddie George, former Michigan wide receiver Desmond Howard, former Georgia running back Herschel Walker, former Florida State quarterback Charlie Ward and former University of Houston quarterback Andre Ware.
Sanders won the Heisman trophy at Oklahoma State in 1988-his junior year- after rushing for 2,628 yards and 37 touchdowns and even now he still holds 14 NCAA rushing records. He did not return for his senior season, instead electing to go to the NFL draft where he was chosen at the third overall pick in the 1989 draft by the Detroit Lions where he played professionally for 10 years.
According to Electronic Arts, the game's publisher, the new release will also feature some new key features like pre and post game presentations, a new passing system and improvements to the defensive AI so that computer-controlled defenders react to plays more authentically.
