A 27-year-old man is in police custody after he tried to burn down his sister's apartment in Oklahoma City. It happened at a complex on S.W. 74th Street near May Avenue.

Allen Sentz's mom and sister tell News 9 Sentz tried to set the apartment on fire early Friday morning following a fight with his sister and brother-in-law.

Investigators say he went to the back porch and set something on fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to other apartments.

This happened about an hour after police were first called to the apartment because Sentz was having an "episode," according to his family. His mother, Vicki Sentz, says her son has suffered from mental health issues for a few years.

"He is not a bad guy. We have tried to get him help and he takes meds for his depression and schizophrenia. His father died in an accident three years ago, and he has been through a lot since then", Vicki Sentz said.
