Police have released the name of a woman who was killed Thursday morning when a man attempted to steal her car at a southwest Oklahoma City motel.

Laura Stenner, 41, was killed in the parking lot of the Quality Inn Motel at Interstate 240 and Western. Police say Jeffrey Tate, 20, tried to carjack Stenner and her friend, 34-year-old Dannell Rivers. Rivers was injured in the attack and had to be hospitalized. Her condition is not known.

Police arrested Tate and booked him into jail on complaints of first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
