Logan County Sheriff's deputies arrested two men in connection to several cases of home repair fraud being reported in the county.

According to the Sheriff's office, deputies took several reports in the month of March from victims in the Marshall, Oklahoma, area concerning home repair fraud. The Sheriff's office was able to determine that several individuals were found to be operating in the County, soliciting services for roofing and lighting rod services.

In the State of Oklahoma, authorities said it is mandatory for individuals performing roofing work or services to register with the State of Oklahoma Construction Industries Board and obtain a registration number. This number is to be put on vehicles, invoices and business cards. The individuals operating in Logan County had not been registered with the state, authorities said.

Two men, later identified as Bartley Anthony Gorman of Oklahoma City and his cousin John Peter Carroll of the State of Washington, were arrested on charges of failure to register with the state, and for obtaining money under false pretense after they stated that they overcharged the victims and charged the victims for services they did not perform.

The two have since posted a $20,000 bond and been released from the Logan County Jail.

According to the Sheriff's office, a 90-year-old victim of lightning rod services paid over $7,000 for services where the work would not have passed inspection standards and also would have created a greater risk of damage to the home had lightning struck it.

Deputies said that victim also appears to have had some roofing work performed that was subpar in standard and was overcharged for the roofing work, as well.

The lightning strike protection service and the roofing repair were both performed by the company which Gorman and Carroll were associated with.

Two more individuals, Sean Patrick Gorman and James Carroll, are being sought for questioning in this business transaction.

James Henry Carroll, 26, has brown hair and brown eyes. He stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 250 pounds. Sean Patrick Gorman, 21, has brown hair and hazel eyes. He stands approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weigh 198 pounds.

Two businesses in good standing with the State of Oklahoma, Reliable Roofing of Guthrie, and Counterstrike Lightning Protection of Oklahoma City, assisted the Sheriff's office in this investigation.

The investigation is ongoing. If you live in Logan County and might have done business with D&G General Contracting, J Carroll Asphalt, or anyone associated with the four individuals listed above, you are urged to contact the Logan County Sheriff's Office at (405)-282-4100.
