Hey there.. we are smak dab in the middle of summer and I have talked to so many moms who say.. summer is getting expensive! That their kids everyday... are needing to be entertained.. and it's not cheap.

How about  some ideas to help you and your kids and it not cost you too much money.

How does Free swimming sound on Sundays? The Woodson Pool at Southwest 33rd Street and May Avenue and the Northeast Pool at Northeast 33rd Street and Kelley Avenue. offer free swimming Sundays from 1 to 5.

Some other inexpensive ideas for the summer.. don't forget the dollar movies at Northpark mall... Buy a season pass good for frontier city and white water ... and the zoo has good offers too.

but parents there is one thing to also remember... Barbara Wright from the Norman Behavioral Center says Parents remember you do not have to be the "entertainment Committee" for your children. Let them get their creative juices flowing.

Ad then I got an e-mail from Jo Anne.. with some other great ideas of spending time.. not necessarily money with your kids..... Here it is....

My kids were busy with us and playing outside, swimming, chores, sports, and hanging out talking.  Anyway, I have been thinking of ways to keep children of all ages busy.
1. Reading time-young children read together
you & older children read the same chapter  book and then discuss it better yet set up a book club with your teens friends and parents
2. Let older kids research a day trip-give them a realistic budget let them figure how much for gas, entry fees, eating arrangements, & etc.
3. Get kids busy with projects to stimulate pride in their room, house, neighborhood
4. Find an elderly neighbor for them to befriend and help
5. Find a young neighbor for them to mentor
6. Find a hobby-car models, kite building, cross-stitch, knitting, etc.
7. Find a sport-tennis, bowling, chess, etc
8. Organize family photos
9. Choose a family member and write a weekly note to them.
10 Cook & exercise together
11. Board games, card games, talking and interacting so you create a solid foundation
Thank you
