Bad day for voters & "poltical consultants"

We hope you're enjoying the extended version of News9's Your Vote Counts, and we especially appreciate the topics you suggest. I try as often as possible to work those into both the television and web version of the show.

With a show named Your Vote Counts, you can believe I am especially interested in why so few Oklahomans went to the polls during the July 29^th Primary Election. We broached the subject in both the web and television versions last week, and possible reasons included the hot weather, too few 'hot races' and general voter apathy. That last one really is a puzzler. I'd be happy to hear your views as to why so many Oklahomans took their franchise so lightly on July 29^th. Be sure and check out the latest web version of YVC as we explore what happened, and what might be done by the legislature next session to motivate better turnout by Oklahoma voters. I have some further thoughts about this topic in my final thoughts section as well, and I look forward to your feedback.

Another topic that has generated a great deal of interest is the role of so-called 'political consultants' in state and local campaigns. Generally speaking, it appears a number of campaigns who relied heavily on these local 'consultants' fared poorly. In particular, consultants who relied heavily on television advertising were the big losers during the primary. Your might be surprised at the level of disdain Rep. Richard Morrissette and Sen. Anthony Sykes, subbing for Randy Terrill, displayed about these so-called experts.
