OKLAHOMA CITY -- Protests against Israel's attacks on Gaza continued around the world Saturday, including local peace protests in downtown Oklahoma City.

About 75 protestors gathered on the south steps of the state Capitol around 5:00 p.m. Saturday. The protesters said they're demonstrating to show folks in Oklahoma that there are people who believe peace is the best option.

"I really wanted to organize this event to show that there are people here in Oklahoma who understand the situation there, and who really want to stop the violence and who are working diligently to do that," event organizer Jilliam Holzbauer said.

They're also hoping Oklahomans will take the time to learn about what's happening in the Middle East.

"We are against innocent people dying and are being wounded for a cause just of occupation," said Saad Mohammaed with the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations has plans for another peace rally on Monday.
