Donate to the American Red CrossMIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- Cecil Clay of the Oklahoma County Fire Department attributed the help of several nearby fire departments as the fight against the blaze continued throughout Thursday night.

"We're starting to get a little bit of a handle on it, if the weather would cooperate just a little bit, it would be obviously a great benefit to us," Clay said. "We've got a long fight still ahead."

Tinker, Cleveland County and Will Rogers International Airport all offered their resources as residential neighborhoods near Draper Lake and the surrounding area were jeopardized.

Residents were evacuated from Anderson Road to Hiawassee Road and between SE 134 Street and SE 149 Street.

"If you're still in that square mile that is west of Hiawassee and in between 134 and 149, we'd ask you to evacuate," Clay said.
