USS Oklahoma City Arriving At Its New Home Base

GUAM -- The Los Angeles class submarine USS Oklahoma City (SSN 723) will be arriving in Guam on Thursday.

Guam will be the new home base for the submarine.

The "Oklahoma City" will replace the USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN 705) and brings the number of submarines forward deployed on Guam back up to 3.

Oklahoma City is the second naval vessel to be named after Oklahoma state's capitol city. The boat was launched Nov. 2, 1985, and commissioned July 9, 1988.
