OKLAHOMA CITY -- A road on Oklahoma State University's Oklahoma City campus now will bear the name of the campus' longtime president.

Regents who govern the university voted Friday to name the previously unnamed street as "Jerry D. Carroll Drive."

Carroll served as OSU-OKC's president from 1997 until his death last Oct. 29. He worked for almost 40 years in higher education in Oklahoma, serving as the provost at Tulsa Community College from 1990 to 1992 and as the president of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami from 1992 to 1997.

Regents Chairman Calvin Anthony says the vote to rename the road seemed appropriate since regents were meeting on the OSU-OKC campus.
