Good Monday to you. We continue our new feature blog, “Monday Morning Quarterback” with a comparison we threw out to open our Statewide Oklahoma Sports Blitz. It hit me while watching the rock-solid Sunday morning ESPN program, Sports Reporters. Bob Ryan, as good a journalist as we’ve seen in this business, was asked his thoughts on the indictment against Roger Clemens for lying to people to whom you can’t lie. Per the norm, I  wholeheartedly agreed with his position and wrote the following 30-second “TAKE” (that’s how it’s billed on our program) that John and I come up with each week to kick off the show.  Two kids grow up in Texas, three years apart. Go to powerful rivals, become All-American superstars, controversial folk heroes with legions of fans  who lead their teams to national championship--Hall of Fame credentials. Then the killer common denominator:  Steroids. And neither goes quietly into the night.  Hall of Fame sportswriter Ryan and  Hall of Fame coach Barry Switzer see it the same way: Roger Clemens and Brian Bosworth are successful and good role models to many. But “The Rocket” and “The Boz” are not. It was “The Rocket” and “The Boz” unwisely fell into the trap in thinking they were bulletproof. And it cost them. Clemens with lying and Bosworth being snubbed by the recent College Football Hall of Fame voting. Brian Bosworth will probably end up getting a call from the Hall. The Rocket will get one call a weekfrom inside the pokey.  DB <br/>May 26th, 2011
