DES MOINES, Iowa -- Highlighting the Oklahoma athletes competing Thursday, the Sooners' Brittany Borman claimed the women's collegiate javelin throw and OU's first women's track and field championship since 1994.

The junior transfer from UCLA set the mark on her fourth of five attempts, with a throw of 178.2 feet, a throw nearly seven feet farther than second place Eda Karesin of Stanford.

Oklahoma State's Colby Lowe has yet to compete Thursday, running in the 10,000 meter final for the Cowboys in the last event of the day.
